NY de Volunteerをいつも応援してくださっているみなさまへ
NY de Volunteerでは、主たる活動に日本文化紹介を通した異文化理解推進「Explore Japanese Culture Program」を行っています。
このプログラムに日本人ボランティアさんに参加いただくことで、日米市民の交流の機会を提供し、相互理解を推進すること、また、多様性を学ぶ機会を提供することを目指しています。
私たちの活動は小さなもので、誰かの人生に転機を与えることや、まして世界を変えることはできません。楽しかったなぁで終わるかもしれません。
ですが、異文化に触れることは多様性を受け入れることの第一歩です。楽しかったという気持ちは、いつか多様性について考えるとき、きっとポジティブに働いてくれるでしょう。そうやって、私たちの小さな活動も、いつか大きなゴールに繋がっていくと信じています。
最近アメリカでは、アジア系の人々をターゲットにした人種差別的な暴言や嫌がらせのほか、身体的な暴力事件が数多く起こっていて、もちろん日本人も例外ではありません。
しかし、このような状況だからこそ、私たちは日系団体としての誇りを持ち、オープンマインドで活動を続けることが大切だと感じています。
誰もが公平に敬意を持って接し合える世界が訪れますように。
今後もNY de Volunteerだからこそできる地域貢献の方法を模索しながら、一人でも多くの方々と共に活動の幅を広げていきたいと考えています。

NY de Volunteer
We are saddened to witness the acts of racial violence against the AAPI community all over the country including in our hometown of New York, the melting pot, one of the most diverse cities in the world. NY de Volunteer stands in solidarity with the AAPI community and denounces the violence against our fellow Asian and Asian American brothers and sisters in New York and around the country. No one should live in fear of facing discrimination, racism or violence. NY de Volunteer's mission is to create positive change makers in our communities through civic engagement and global leadership development. We will continue to promote appreciation for the diversity that we are blessed to have in our communities through our cultural exchange programs and other activities.
